Also - I mention that this trick is mechanically the same as an old self-working trick.  I'd originally found it as 'Impossible' by Stephen Tucker, but it dates back to Reinhard Muller and his 'Telfon Trick' from Six Impromptu Card Tricks by Karl Fulves (Despite it not being a card trick!) from 1982.
